DAWN | Work in Progress 2022-2023

This page displays a new ongoing body of work, which comprises personal images that I have created and gathered these past twelve months.

This series of photographs opens with some older images as an entry point paving the way towards new ones - shaping the common thread of a new narrative linking together past and present.

This body of images offers a study of lines, shapes, spaces – in a somewhat obsessive quest to establish dialogue and resonances between them.

As with jazz rhythms, the connexion and dissonance of images both aim at reaching a dynamic and subtle equilibrium – echoing my feelings of being sometimes lost in the ether of the in-between space between two lands, languages and identities.

Just as with my inner quest to find a new way of seeing and living in my new country, these images also carry the secret hope of a new dawn - revealing the slow hidden but sometimes painful labour of growing roots and grounding myself and my family.

Dawn is a work in progress, whose meaning and shape are starting to unfold and make sense to me. In the words of the painter Pierre Soulages ‘It's what I do that teaches me what I'm looking for’ [‘C’est ce que je fais qui m’apprend ce que je cherche’].
